Installation & requirements

Requirements: WordPress 6.5+, PHP 8.1+.

Installing the free plugin

Install "Staff Schedule and Work Roster" from the WordPress.org plugin directory (Plugins → Add New), or upload the zip via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Activate it.

Installing Pro

Download studio-toolbox-schedules-pro-<version>.zip from your studiotoolbox.com account and upload it the same way. Pro is a separate add-on installed alongside the free plugin (which stays active — Pro requires it): nothing is replaced and nothing migrates — your schedules, staff, and settings carry over untouched. Deactivating the add-on later drops you back to free with all data intact. See Free vs Pro for exactly what changes.

After activating Pro, enter your license key on the Pro tab of Schedules → Settings to receive updates — see Licensing & updates.

What activation sets up

  • The staff role and its permissions (staff never see wp-admin — their whole world is the portal).
  • The plugin's database tables.
  • The /staff portal page at yoursite.com/staff.

If /staff shows a 404 after installing, re-save your permalinks once (WordPress Settings → Permalinks → Save Changes) — details in Common issues.

Next: First-run setup.
